DIY: Magnetic Shoe & Clothes Locker
Replacing and professionally cleaning mud and other stains from your home’s carpet and other flooring can be costly. The good news is you can keep cleaning to minimum with this DIY project: a magnetic shoe and clothes locker.
A magnetic shoe locker is a great way to organize and eliminate the frustration of constantly cleaning mud, rain, and other outdoor-to-indoor messes that are tracked into your home.
Supplies
- Repurposed lockers
- 25-pound hook magnets
- Spray paint
Instructions
- Repurposed lockers are great flea market finds that can come in handy and look great with some restoration. If you want to skip the restoration process you can either purchase a new locker or leave a vintage impression with its original look.
- If you are restoring the locker here is a quick tutorial we found from Simply Tangerine. Depending on the condition of the locker, you may get away with just adding some spray paint.
- Once you have the restored lockers set up in your home, add some hook magnets inside for extra storage. Some lockers may have hooks already in place, but with magnetic hooks you can move them around easily and optimize storage space.
- When the hook magnets are in place, you can hang shoes, jackets, bags, and more. It is important to note you have a 25-pound weight limit. If you need a stronger or weaker pull force, consider trying a different hook magnet.
