For many of us, winter can be a tough time of year. Ice, snow, and colder temperatures all come with their own, unique set of obstacles and headaches. Luckily, magnets are here to help! Read on for some of our favorite magnetic winter home hacks to help you make it to spring with out going crazy.
Convenient Magnetic Hat Hooks
Winter mornings are just as busy as every other morning, except colder. When you are rushing out the door to work, it’s best to have all of your warm layers in the most accessible spot. Use magnetic hooks on your door to hang each of your hats so you have an aesthetically pleasing display of your winter hat collection, and also the ability to grab a hat quickly as you’re leaving the house. These magnets can work for scarves and even winter coats, too! Go a step further creating a metal board, attaching it to the wall to make a spot for everyone to hang all of their heavy-duty layers!
Magnetic Hot Chocolate Kit
This DIY has been done before to display and collect spices, but we put a seasonal twist on this craft! Collect or buy small tin cans that have been used for spices, mints, or small condiments. Take off any labeling and hot glue a disc magnet on the back of each tin can. Fill one can with hot chocolate mix, one can with miniature marshmallows, one can with cinnamon, and one can with sprinkles (everyone needs sprinkles in their hot cocoa, right?). Attach the cans to your fridge and use throughout the winter season! This can be a fun craft for the entire family and guests will love the idea. You can also make this for someone as a gift, or swap the ingredients for chocolate chip cookies to make enough for a one-person party on a cold day!
Prevent Car Door From Freezing
One downside to the winter season is the sub-zero temperatures that can not only be a hassle for commuting, but can affect your vehicle. Because of the wicked weather elements, cars left outside overnight can become frozen to the point where you can’t get your r doors open the next day.. If you place a wide, flat magnet over your car doors key lock overnight, you can avoid the door from freezing shut. This saves time and a lot of frustration that many face every year during this cold and snowy time. Looking for more winter home hacks and other helpful DIYs and clever magnetic hacks?
