In the coming weeks, families and friends alike will gather to celebrate the holiday season. Holiday parties are essential to this time of year, and for a host or hostess, it can be overwhelming to plan a well-thought-out get together full of entertainment. Luckily, we have a few holiday DIYs that every guest will enjoy making. Bonus, they can take them home and use them as decoration for their own house! Keep reading to learn how to make magnetic cork reindeer, magnetic twine Christmas trees, and glitter ornament magnets.

Magnetic Cork Reindeer

Supplies You’ll Need:

  • Corks
  • Googly eyes
  • Two small brown faux tree branches (can be found at any local craft store)
  • Red felt
  • Hot glue gun
  • 4mm x 1mm disc magnets

Instructions:

  1. If needed, cut tree branches to resemble reindeer antlers and fit the size of the cork. Hot glue them to one end of the cork.
  2. Cut a small oval out of the red felt. This will be the reindeer’s nose.
  3. On the top of the cork, use the hot glue gun to glue the googly eyes and the felt nose.
  4. Let everything dry.
  5. Hot glue the magnet to the back of the cork, Let dry then stick on any magnetic surface.

Magnetic Twine Christmas Trees

Supplies You’ll Need:

Instructions:

  1. Trace or outline a small Christmas tree on the cardboard.
  2. Cut the tree shape out of the cardboard, making sure the edges are smooth.
  3. Take one end of the twine and hot glue it to the top half of the tree.
  4. Start to wrap the twine around the cardboard until the tree is completely covered in string. The twine should be going one direction (horizontally).
  5. Once you made it to the bottom of the tree and the tree is covered in the twine, cut off the twine and hot glue the end to the back of the tree.
  6. Glue the magnet to the back of the tree. Let dry completely.
  7. Optional: For a festive touch, create bows, stars, or garland out of the twine and glue on separately. Or, use red, green and gold twine instead of brown.

Glitter Ornament Magnets

Supplies You’ll Need:

  • Small Edison bulbs, preferably red and green
  • Modge Podge
  • Red and green glitter
  • Hot glue gun
  • 5mm x 3mm disc magnets

Instructions:

  1. Fill two bowls with red and green glitter. You can mix the glitter or keep each color separate.
  2. Coat the bulbs in a layer of modge podge. Make sure you don’t coat the base of the bulb.
  3. Stick the bulbs gently into the glitter and turn it like you would turn a doorknob until the entire bulb is covered with glitter.
  4. Let dry completely.
  5. Glue a magnet on the back of each bulb.
  6. Bonus: Cover a festive frame with chalkboard paint and stick the ornaments on their for a stand-out holiday decoration.
