Cute As A Button: DIY Button Magnets
Buttons are can be a crafter's ultimate resource. You can make anything out of buttons; there are countless options. Chances are, you have an endless collection of buttons in your craft box that you’d like to use. Well, you’re in luck! Today we have three simple, creative, and fun magnetic button DIYs. From layered button magnets to vintage key magnets, there’s a craft for all button enthusiasts. Keep reading to find out how to make each of these unique button magnets perfect for the fridge or your office.
Layered Button Magnets
What You’ll Need:- A collection of buttons of your choice. Shape, color, and size do not matter.
- Hot glue gun.
- 1/4" x 1/16" disc magnets
- Layer buttons for desired look. Biggest buttons go on the bottom and work your way up to the smallest button. A layered look of 3 to 4 magnets is suggested.
- Use the hot glue gun to glue magnets together. Let each layer of buttons dry before gluing the next button on.
- On the back of the biggest button, put a small amount of glue and stick the magnet on. Let dry completely to set the magnet.
Fabric Scrap Button Magnets
What You’ll Need:- Pieces of scrap fabric.
- A collection of buttons of your choice. Shape, color, and size do not matter.
- Hot glue gun.
- Gorilla Glue.
- ½” x ⅛” Ceramic Disc Magnets.
- Cover each button with scrap fabric of choice. Different patterns and/or colors look best.
- Optional: Try threading yarn through the fabric and button holes for a cute look!
- Use the gorilla glue to glue down ends of fabric on the back of the button. Let dry completely.
- On the back of the button, put a small amount of glue and stick the magnet on. Let dry completely to set the magnet.
Vintage Key Button Magnets
What You’ll Need:- Vintage keys (Faux keys found at local craft store. Authentic keys can be found at hobby stores).
- Small, vintage-looking buttons.
- Hot glue gun.
- 4mm x 2mm Disc Neodymium Magnets.
- Place the buttons where you want them on the keys.
- Use the hot glue gun to glue the buttons to the keys. Let dry completely.
- On the back of the key, put a small amount of glue and stick the magnet on. Let dry completely to set the magnet.
