While we only have just shy of two seasons left of the HBO series Game of Thrones, the fandom will surely live on. Winter has come and it shows no signs of letting up anytime soon. With so much merchandise available, it can be hard to choose. Instead of forking over money, why not just create your own? If you’re familiar with Game of Thrones, you know there are many houses fighting to take the Iron Throne. Which house are you rooting for? The Starks, the Lannisters, the Targaryens? What about an underdog house like the Martells, Greyjoys, or Tullys? Each house has its own distinct sigil as well as a house motto. “Winter is Coming”, “Fire and Blood”, and “Growing Strong” are just a few examples of the house mottos. Which one stands out to you? If none of these great houses of Westeros deserve your allegiance, you can even make your own sigil here. No matter where your allegiances lie, you can create an interesting way of letting everyone know whose side you are on in the Great War with these DIY magnetic bookmarks! What You’ll Need Steps
  1. Cut your cardstock into a rectangle. When bent, the bookmark will fit on either side of the pages of a book to mark your place. Your bookmark can be any size you’d like but we recommend keeping it pretty small, around 8 inches long.
  2. Once you’ve printed out the design you’d like to place on your bookmark (we recommend printing two, one for each side of the bookmark), arrange them on each side of the book mark and secure them with glue.
  1. Next, peel the adhesive cover off the back of your magnets and place them inside the bookmark on the opposite sides as the house sigil. Press down hard to ensure the magnets are secured properly.
That’s it! The next time you’re diving into George R.R. Martin’s A Song of Ice and Fire you’ll have a fun and creative way to hold your place. Hopefully, your favorite characters are lucky enough to hold their places on the show, too. For more magnet related DIY projects, make sure to check out our News & How-To’s blog.
