You can make it any color, pattern or size you like, making it a serious contender for style as well.
What You’ll Need
- Fabric (a sturdy fabric that’s not too frail)
- Velcro
- Multiple small disc magnets
- Sewing machine OR Needle and Thread (thread should match color of fabric)
- Small piece of air duct scrap or flashing
- Epoxy glue
- Scissors
- Measuring Stick
- Stapler
- Optional: Rivets and Rivet Setter
- Measure the fabric to the width and length you want (width of bracelet and circumference of your wrist). Make sure to leave a little extra fabric when measuring your wrist. Cut the section of fabric. If you choose to buy your fabric at a fabric store, chances are, they can do this step for you!
- Take the piece of metal scrap and glue on the magnets. Make sure they are slightly spread apart, and that you have enough magnets to cover the entire piece of metal. Set aside and let dry completely.
- If you have a sewing machine, this is the time to use it! If not, you can simply use a needle and thread. Fold the fabric in half vertically (and inside out), then sew down the whole length of one side.
- Flip the fabric right side out and staple the velcro piece to one of the ends of the fabric. Flip it over and sew the velcro in on the back side for extra support.
- Slide the piece of metal with the magnets in the other side of the fabric (the side that is still opened).
- Optional Step: If you’re piece of metal is on the shorter side, and you would like to prevent it from sliding around inside the fabric when you have the bracelet on your wrist, you can use rivets and a rivet setter to bound the metal to the fabric securely.
- Sew the opening closed.
- Staple on the other piece of velcro to the end you just sewed. Flip it over and sew the back of the velcro for extra support.
- Put bracelet on your wrist and get to work! You can now work on any DIY project without worrying about losing any bolts, screws, etc! Think of the possibilities!
