Map’s aren’t only a great learning tool, they are also a unique decor element, especially when it comes to an entire map on your fridge! Here’s an awesome project that you can customize for your style and your preference: a DIY Map Magnet Puzzle. Whether you want to focus on creating just the United States of America, or go big and create the map of the entire world, this will for sure entertain your guests while making giving your fridge a modern-style touch. The purpose of this craft is create the states puzzle pieces separately so you can put them together or leave them apart for a more eclectic look. What you’ll need:
  • An old map puzzle of the United States or even the world. (If you want to be even craftier, print out outlines of the state's, trace them onto thin cardboard, and cut them out. Then paint and design the details (such as the different colors, road maps, and the capitals of each state).
  • Multiple 3mm x 1mm Disc - Neodymium Rare Earth Magnets
  • Hot glue gun.
  • Optional: metal cooking sheet or other magnetic surface.
Glue the magnets onto the back of each puzzle piece. Let dry and cool completely. If you would like to make the puzzle more of a game than decor for your company or maybe you don’t have room for the puzzle on your fridge, grab a cooking sheet or other magnetic surface and have fun putting the pieces back together. If you’re an overachiever and are looking for a challenge, you can start from scratch and make your own puzzle pieces! Print out outlines of the United States, trace them onto thin cardboard, and precisely cut them out. Then paint and design the details (such as the different colors, road maps and the capitals of each state). Another way you can incorporate magnets with this craft is to use magnets as markers of where you have traveled! Once you have put the pieces of the puzzle together and it’s nicely displayed on your refrigerator (if you choose to), you can add magnets to the cities, states or countries you have visited to make your map even more unique and special to your home!
