As summer dwindles away and the school year starts again, we get back to the daily grind of work. However, just because you are doing work doesn’t mean you can’t make it a little more fun. Because, let’s face it, it’s easy to fall down the steep slope of procrastination especially when you are not having fun, not organized or just not motivated. Well, we’ve got some ideas for how you can fight off procrastination with some help from the magnetic force.

Set Up Your Workspace

The environment in which you work can play a key role in how you work. In other words, good feng shui does matter. Organization matters too; staying organized will help you stay on track and save you time in the long run. For instance, when your space is organized you will be less inclined to waste time “cleaning” it up or using another excuse to cop-out of doing the work at hand. To fully optimize your workspace for productivity, here are some magnet DIY musts:

Magnetic To Do List

Hang up a magnetic chalkboard or whiteboard above your desk so that you can make a to do list. This will help you keep track of all the things that you need to do. Plus, there is always the good feeling of accomplishment when you get to move a “to do” item to the “done” pile.

Magnetic Rewards Chart

It may sound a bit silly or childish, but when you don’t do a task when you planned to do it, take away a reward. On the flip side, when you do complete a task on time, reward yourself for it. Keep track of your rewards with a magnetic chart and hang it up in a spot that is easily visible from your work space.

Goal/Quote Magnets for Motivation

Use magnets to hang up pictures of mentors or favorite quotes, so that when you get tired or bored, you can look up and get a bit of the extra motivation that you need to keep moving. You can also make it even more personal and right some goals of yours on paper or stationery. Are you earning a new college degree? Writing the article of your life? You can either turn them into glass magnets with a little mod podge or just hold the pieces of paper with disc magnets. Either way, your goal magnets will remind you why you are working so hard.
