Cure the Winter Blues with Game-Inspired Magnet Crafts
We still have more than a few weeks left of winter, and you might find yourself getting antsy for spring. The cold temperatures and frequent snowfall can put a downer on plans, and you end up staying inside more often than not. However, there are some fun activities to do to keep you busy and take your mind off of the droning winter, such as playing games! Whether it’s board games or puzzles, they will entertain everyone in your home for hours.
We came up with a magnetic twist on these classic favorites that will be sure to entertain everyone for hours! Not only are these crafts great decorations, they also hold function and are super fun to make. Below are instructions on how to create lego magnets, dominoes magnets and tetris magnets. Make your fridge the next
Lego Magnets
You will need:- Medium-sized legos of any sort. (The classic rectangular bricks work best)
- Super Glue
- Multiple 3mm x 1mm Disc Magnets.
- Turn the bricks upside down so the cylinder holes are facing right-side up.
- Drop a pea-sized amount of super glue at the bottom of the cylinder hole(s) (Depending on if you are using a square or rectangle brick. Square legos typically only have one cylinder hole, while the rectangle have two.)
- Drop the magnets inside the cylinder holes. You may need two (three max) magnets to fill up the hole, but the super glue and the shapes of the magnets will guarantee the magnets will not fall out.
- And it’s that simple! Wait an hour or so for the glue to dry and the magnets to set and stick on the wall. It’s a great way to use and display old legos you’ve had laying around, collecting dust.
- Dominoes (either wooden or the classic plastic)
- Hot glue gun.
- Multiple 3mm x 1mm Disc Magnets.
- Decide which side of the dominoes you are going to add the magnet to.
- With the hot glue gun, glue one magnet in the middle of each domino.
- Let dry completely.
- Stick up on the fridge with the legos and start your classic game magnets collection!
- Square wooden beads (Found at any craft store. the more colorful, the better!)
- Hot glue gun.
- Multiple 3mm x 1mm Disc Magnets.
- Glue the wooden beads together in tetris formations. (You can model the formations off of the actual game here.)
- Once you have all the formations glued together, let them dry completely and allow the beads to set.
- Glue one magnet on the back of one bead on each formation. Again, let dry completely and allow the magnet and bead to set.
- Play tetris on the fridge or just use them as really colorful decorations that will brighten up anyone’s day!
