We’ve talked about the Hyperloop previously on the blog, but just in case you’re not up to speed, we’ll give you a little refresher. Presented in 2013 by Elon Musk, the Hyperloop is a proposed low-pressure tube system powered by electromagnetism. It would be capable of spanning longer distances in less time than has ever been possible. Imagine being able to travel from Los Angeles to San Francisco (350 miles) in under 35 minutes. Cross-country travel would be changed forever, and for the better!
Now, we’re taking the next step forward. The newly proposed Hyperloop Hotel will be 13 hotels in one with locations across the country in places like New York, Boston, Washington DC, Chicago, Seattle and more. Instead of hopping on the Hyperloop in Las Vegas to visit a hotel in Nashville, your entire hotel room would be transported across the country via the tube system that powers the Hyperloop!
How Does the Hyperloop Hotel Work?
For just $1,200, you can have breakfast on the east coast, lunch in the Midwest, and finish the day with dinner on the beach gazing out at the Pacific. As the University of Nevada, Las Vegas architecture student who conceived the idea said, “You could wake up in D.C., work for a few hours, get lunch in New York, finish your workday, and have dinner in Boston. Almost like taking Amtrak, but with no tickets, a lot more privacy, more comfort, and less shoddy Wifi.” The rooms will each be built using shipping containers and then outfitted with the same luxuries found in any other hotel.
The Hyperloop Technologies company currently has a test track in Nevada called the DevLoop and plans to expand the project by 2020. While the actual technology to send passengers from Philadelphia to New York in 10 minutes doesn’t exist yet, it is on the horizon.
Would you pay $1,200 to travel on the Hyperloop Hotel? You certainly wouldn’t have to worry about jet lag anymore!
