The Results
To test the results of neodymium magnets in magnetic smart textiles, a neodymium coating was placed on three fabrics: plain woven cotton, knitted cotton, and plain woven polyester. According to the study, “The results showed that the surface magnetic induction intensity of plain woven cotton-based fabrics was up to 27 megatonnes when the content of magnetic powder was 70 wt%. This means magnetic textile fabrics with good magnetic properties can be prepared using this method.” They also found that magnetism and remanence was directly proportional to the amount of neodymium powder, meaning when powder was increased, so was magnetism and remanence.
