Pinball Machines and Electromagnets
Stern Pinball created a Stranger Things inspired pinball machine that features video projections and a clever ball trap inspired by the character Eleven’s telekinetic powers. Though Stranger Things is set in the 80s, this pinball machine is made from the latest technology.
The First of Its Kind
This Stranger Things machine will come in three versions — Pro, Premium, and Limited Edition models. All versions will have classic pinball elements like ramps, spinners, and hypnotic flashing lights and sounds, but there are some elements in the Premium and Limited Editions that are the first of their kind in the pinball machine world.
While playing on the Premium and Limited editions, users can expect a first-ever hidden video projector that plays custom animations and clips from the series, directly on the playfield.
They’ll also have a screen in the middle that’s able to fold down like a castle’s drawbridge. This will create a ramp for balls to hit a Demogorgon that appears behind it
How Magnetism Is Used
All pinball machines use magnetism in some way — you can read about it on this How Stuff Works — but this Stern Pinball machine uses magnetism in a whole new way.
The Premium and Limited edition models will be able to recreate the character Eleven’s telekinetic powers through a hidden electromagnet on top of the machine. The magnet will grab onto multiple balls before releasing them all at once for an extra challenge to players. The limited-edition model includes some other unique features such as an exclusive mirrored backglass, custom themed cabinet artwork, and anti-reflection pinball glass.
