Show Your Pokemon GO Pride with Team Buttons
We know you want to be the very best, like no one ever was. Whether you’re an old fan or new to the craze, we’re sure you’ve heard about Pokémon Go. The augmented reality app separates players into three teams and sends them out into the world to ‘Catch ‘Em All!’ If you want to show your team pride, you’re going to need some insignia. A magnetic button to attach to your hat, bookbag, or shirt is the perfect way to let everyone know where your allegiances lie. First, make sure you’ve picked your team: are you Team Mystic, Team Instinct, or Team Valor?
Here’s what you’ll need to wear your Poké-pride on your sleeve:
- The logo template for your team of choice. (We found great ones here at Dribbble!)
- Shrink paper
- Small disc magnets
- Permanent markers or paint: Red for Team Valor, Yellow for Team Instinct, Blue for Team Mystic, Black for the outlines
- A small paintbrush
- Industrial strength adhesive
- Parchment paper
- Decoupage glue
- Ruler
- In order to ensure that your logo is the size you want your finished button to be, make your own ruler! Using a ruler, mark off each inch on the side of a piece of shrink paper. Then, shrink it down! You’ll know exactly how big your finished product will be.
- Cut the logo out to the shape you’d like your button to be. We suggest sticking to the general shape of the logo itself so either a triangle, circle, or hexagon.
- Use your black permanent marker to trace the outline of your logo onto the shrink paper.
- Fill in the rest of your logo with your paint color of choice. It’s okay if you paint over the black lines, just go over them again with another layer of permanent marker once the paint dries so you have crisp, dark lines.
- Preheat your oven to 350 (Different brands might have different heat requirements) and lay your designs colored side up on parchment paper on a baking sheet. Once the oven has preheated, pop your designs in the oven for 2-3 minutes.
- Let them sit in the oven until they’ve flattened. They should curl a little before flattening again. If you pull them out of the oven before they’ve flattened completely, they’ll stay curled!
- Once they’ve cooled down, paint your designs with a few coats of decoupage glue to seal the design.
- Using your industrial strength adhesive, glue one side of your disc magnet to the back of your button. Use another disc magnet to secure your button onto your hat, backpack, or shirt.
- Go catch them all!
