The sun is shining and the temperatures are warm, making summer one of the most ideal months to make those little fixes or big improvements to your home. If you’re taking advantage of the weather, here are a few magnetic ideas that you may want to add to your list of home improvement projects!

Kitchen Magnets

You can amplify your kitchen counter space with one of these magnet projects:
  • Spice rack-Add magnets to jars of spices and hang them up for easy access, organization and display.
  • Magnetic knife holder-Using strong neodymium magnets, you can place kitchen knives on a backsplash or above your counter.
The best thing about these uses for magnets is that they can be aesthetically pleasing and convenient when constructed properly.

Cabinet Magnets

Adding magnetic latches to cabinets as an extra measure to secure items inside is a fairly common practice. For a guide to installing cabinet latches, feel free to check out our installation blog.

Secret Hideaways

We stumbled across this clever cubby hole that is carefully concealed using magnets. You can put it in your house to stow away sentimental items or just to feel mysterious! If you really want to dive into secret hideaways though, try using a magnetic latch to conceal a hidden room through the guise of a bookshelf. Depending on the layout of your home, there are various ways of installing a secret bookshelf. Here are just a couple of versions that you can find on Instructables.

Magnetic Paint

We are big fans of magnetic paint! You may need several layers of paint to achieve just the right amount of magnetism. However, in the end, we like to think it pays off. By using magnets instead of nails to hang posters, pictures and other decor you could limit the amount of damage to your walls. Check out our blog on magnetic paint projects for more details, tips and project ideas. If you’re using magnets in your home improvement projects, share it with us in the comments or on our Facebook page! For questions about what magnets to purchase, feel free to contact us.
