Thanksgiving is over and that means it is time to pull out all your Christmas decorations! If you have a surplus of ornaments or bulbs after decorating your tree, you can repurpose them as magnets! Christmas ornament fridge magnets are easy and inexpensive to make, here’s how you can create them.

Supplies

  • Christmas ornaments
  • Glue
  • Neodymium magnets

Steps

  1. Pull out your extra Christmas ornaments and lay them on a disposable working surface like newspaper. Plastic, shatterproof bulbs are recommended because they are more durable.
  2. Take strong neodymium magnets, disc magnets would work well.
  3. You can remove the part that hooks onto tree branches or keep it on. If you keep it on, glue the magnet to one side of the bulb, so that the hook is hangs upwards. If you take it off, you can glue the magnet to where the hook was positioned.
These can make festive fridge magnets, but that isn’t all that you can do with them! You can use them as holiday party favors or homemade gifts. You can also use them to turn your fridge into a Christmas tree. Simply attach the ornament magnets, so that they form the shape of a tree on your fridge. If you want to get even more creative, cut out a tree shape from a piece of green construction paper and place it underneath. Then build some LED throwies from tape, LED lights and magnets and add them to your magnetic Christmas tree! Photo by Maegan Tintari
