Supplies
Most of the supplies you will need can be found in your junk drawer or work area. As always, be sure to pick up the magnets you need from our online store here at Apex. All orders placed by 3 PM EST include same-day shipping! You will need:- Wooden cutting board
- Disc Magnets (a 1 x ¼” disc or stronger. If you don’t mind the magnets showing, you could use 1 x ⅛” magnets)
- Super glue
- Drill with Forstner bit or hole saw bit
- Pencil
Steps
Follow these steps:- With your cutting board laying flat down, determine which knives you want to hang. The majority of the blade, or the entire blade, will be on the board. To make grabbing the handles easier, we recommend alternating the direction of each knife by 180 degrees. By this, we mean having one handle point towards the ground and then turning the next knife so its handle is upwards. Your magnet arrangement will also rotate depending on where your blades are since this is where they will make the best contact.
- Make a light mark on your board where each knife will go. Trace your magnet at each of these spots.
- Using your Hole saw or Forstner bit, drill the holes the size of your magnet. Be sure not to cut through the wood while completing this step. Remove any wood shavings from the holes.
- Place a blob of glue inside each hole.
- Grab your magnets and push each of them down in each hole. Apply a few seconds of pressure before leaving them to dry overnight after wiping away any excess glue that comes out around the sides.
- Hang your new cutting board in the perfect spot for your convenience. Please keep in mind that weight, size, and the number of knives need to be considered when hanging.
- Place the blade of your knives on a magnet - arranged as explained in step one.
- Enjoy your new knife holder!
