- Scissors
- Stencil (Optional)
- Stickers (Optional)
- Cylinder magnet (1/16”x1/2”)
- Paper plates
- Thin cardboard (Ex: from a cereal box)
Steps
Creating your maze takes just a few minutes. You can even create multiple mazes with different settings to keep the fun going for hours.
*We recommend adult supervision during this project.
Follow these simple directions to enjoy your maze:
- Grab a paper plate and draw out a maze for your children to follow. You can adjust how tricky they are based on their age.
- Create a fun backdrop to really capture your child’s attention. Use stencils or stickers to add clouds, flowers, snow, etc., and make them feel immersed in the maze.
- Use another stencil to draw a bug or animal onto your thin piece of cardboard. Make sure it matches the theme of the maze (a bird if there’s a cloud backdrop, a bumblebee if it is a garden, etc.)! Once done, cut it out carefully with your scissors.
- Place a paper clip over your character and move it to the start of the maze.
- Have your child place their magnet under the plate, beneath the paper clip, and move it through the maze!
- Explain to your child that the magnet can attract the paper clip, even with the plate in between them.
