The big game is this weekend. We have compiled some DIY projects and tricks to try if you are a football fan or are throwing a party or tailgate to celebrate.

Magnetic Drink Holders

If the weather where you live is nice enough for an outdoor tailgate, then these magnetic drink cozies are a must! One of the difficulties of having an outdoor tailgate is finding a space to put your drink without it spilling. These DIY magnetic drink holders are easy to make and perfect for parties.

Supplies

  • Glue
  • Neodymium magnets
  • Drink koozies

Steps

  1. Glue on one or two strong neodymium magnets to one side of a drink koozie. Make sure that the glue is heavy-duty strength, so that the magnets will stay on.
  2. Another option is to sew the magnets into the koozie. For this, you need a sewing magnet and needle. Simply sew a patch and insert the magnet into one side of the koozie.
  3. Test out the hold of your magnetic koozie with a closed drink. Using stronger magnets will give it a more firm hold.
After you have tested the magnetic koozies, then they are ready to use at your tailgate. Give each guest one. When they need to set their drink down somewhere, they can attach the koozie to the tailgate truck or other vehicle. You can also add on a magnetic bottle opener. Attach it to a vehicle and guests can easily open bottles, and the opener will collect the caps for you!

Magnetic Football Field Board

A football-themed DIY magnetic board is a decorative piece that sports fans can use any time of the year. Here’s how to make your own:

Supplies

  • Magnets
  • Green Spray Paint
  • Tape
  • Number stencils
  • White Paint
  • Paint Brush
  • Cookie Sheet

Steps

  1. Take a cookie sheet and coat it with green spray paint in a well-ventilated area. Wait to dry.
  2. When dry, flip over and coat the other side. Let dry again.
  3. Once the sheet is completely green and dry, measure out even lines and mark them with painter’s tape. This will be the foundation for the field lines.
  4. Paint the marked lines with white paint. Then use the number stencils to the respective line.
  5. Let the paint dry and remove tape.
  6. Attach some magnets to hang notes, football schedules or other memorabilia.
You can even pair the board with some DIY football-shaped magnets to go with the theme. How are you preparing for the big game? Feel free to share it with us in the comments! Photo by Elvert Barnes
