Magnets are integral to the workplace. They not only streamline processes but provide safety in high-risk applications. Magnets can help address common work hazards and meet industry safety practices because of their durability, reliability, and pull force. They are particularly useful for safety in metalworking and fabrication, automobile workshops, production facilities, construction sites, warehouses, and more. Considering implementing one of the following types of magnets to improve safety processes:

1. Magnetic Sweeper

Magnetic sweepers are an easy and efficient way to pick up ferrous metal debris on the ground that could puncture tires, injure employees, and damage machinery. The 7’’ hard plastic wheels and 30’’ sweep head are wide enough to sweep over a large area quickly and efficiently. You can use a magnetic sweeper over shop floors, concrete, carpet, and even grass. When finished sweeping over the ground, use the one-pull release on the sweep head to release the metal debris and dispose of it.

2. Retrieving Magnets

Double-sided retrieval magnets can be used in a variety of applications and can hold anywhere from 200, 600, or 1,000 pounds. They can retrieve and move heavy items safely and securely to a new location. Retrieving magnets can be used either horizontally or vertically by removing unnecessary eye bolts. Another way to use this magnet is by using two ropes or chains, one through each eye bolt, for control both horizontally and vertically. In fishing, retrieval magnets can retrieve heavy items lost at the bottom of bodies of water. Additionally, law enforcement can use retrieving magnets to find and retrieve evidence in bodies of water.  Note: Retrieving magnets are water-resistant and not waterproof. Make sure you dry off moisture after each use. To remove a heavy item from a retrieving magnet, you can use a rubber mallet/plastic wedge or place them at the edge of something to shear it off the item being held.

3. Magnetic Flashlight Pickup Tool

Magnetic flashlight pickup tools are versatile tools, including a 3-LED flashlight and a strong neodymium magnet at the tip. They can hold ferrous metals up to three pounds and work best for picking up small items, such as bolts, nuts, keys, and keyrings that can puncture tires and damage equipment. Pickup tools are adjustable for up to 22 inches, which makes them a great tool to pick up materials in hard-to-reach places and corners. Additionally, they are lightweight and have durable steel handles.

4. Shuttering Magnets

Especially in construction zones, where safety is extremely important, shuttering magnets can prevent potential danger from happening. When working with powerful materials like steel and concrete, you must use tools that are equally strong as well as flexible. Shutter magnets, available as a custom order, help construction workers feel safe, knowing they can rely on their hold power when it comes to dealing with steel panels, beams, fences, concrete, and more.  When pouring concrete, you can use shuttering magnets with a provision for easy removal once the job is done. The magnet will “clamp” down and hold all the pieces of your project together without the use of electricity. It is a much more cost-efficient option than expensive electromagnetic options.
