Maximize Your Storage Space

Create a DIY Magnetic Spice Rack

One simple but ingenious way to maximize your storage space in the kitchen is to create a storage system on your fridge using 1” x 1/8” disc magnets and jars/containers! We put together an easy-to-follow magnetic spice rack craft that can be altered to store any small items in your kitchen, from spices and dried herbs to seeds and nuts, for easy access. If you don’t want to store spices on your fridge, you could also place a sheet of metal on the bottom of a shelf in your kitchen cabinet and stick the spice jars there!

Store Aluminum Foil, Plastic Wrap, etc. on Your Fridge

Whether you have a small galley or a decent-sized kitchen in your rental property, you can never have too much storage space. This magnet hack will help free up some much-needed kitchen drawer space. Instead of storing aluminum foil, plastic wrap, parchment paper, and other cooking and storage items in drawers or cabinets, you can attach adhesive-backed magnets (such as our 1/2” x 1/8” adhesive disc magnets) inside of the boxes and stick them directly to the side of your fridge! When it’s time to cook or pack up food, you can easily reach for the box and pull out what you need. Once it’s empty, swap out the roll inside so you don’t have to use new adhesive disc magnets.

Organize Your Medicine Cabinet

Another room that can never have too much storage is the bathroom. It can be difficult to keep bathrooms organized with so many items in drawers, linen closets, medicine cabinets, and more. An easy way to organize your medicine cabinet if it’s metal is to use hook magnets to hang items such as hair cutting shears or nail scissors and 8mm x 1mm disc magnets to hold things like nail clippers and tweezers. You can also use little jars (like those used for the spice rack above!) to store bobby pins, hair ties, or barrettes in the cabinet while freeing up shelf space. If your cabinet isn’t metal, you can actually put a sheet of galvanized steel behind the shelves to make it magnetic.

Decorate Your Apartment

Hang Lights and Decorations from Drop Ceilings

Drop ceilings in apartments are common, but you can use them to your advantage by sprucing up your decor with hook magnets! This hack couldn’t be more straightforward — stick a hook magnet to the drop ceiling grid wherever you’d like to hang something. These could be used for things like paper lanterns, mobiles, or other light items. Drop ceiling grids aren’t meant to hold much weight, so we recommend using the mini hook pin magnets that hold 2.2 pounds.    Another way to use hook magnets on your drop ceilings is to hang string lights around the border of the room by spacing them apart and hanging the string lights from the hooks.

Hang Wall Art and Photos

Adhesive magnets are an easy way to transform the aesthetic of your home without putting holes in your walls! For larger items, such as mirrors and picture frames, simply adhere adhesive disc magnets to whatever you’d like to hang and to the wall. When you’re ready to change it up, you can remove the piece of decor and swap it out with something else! If you’re hanging a poster or something lighter, you can adhere adhesive disc magnets to the wall and use a small disc magnet to “pinch” the item between the magnets. This way, you aren’t putting any holes through your posters!
