Similar to metal detecting, magnet fishing is a way to discover hidden objects around us. The biggest difference? Magnet fishing happens underwater. It’s actually pretty simple, take a strong retrieval magnet, or for a cheaper alternative— an eyebolt neodymium magnet—tied with some rope over to a body of water near you. Then, cast the rope into the water just like normal fishing. You never know what you might find! If you want to try out magnet fishing for yourself, check out this article about the basics. In this post though, let’s take a look at some of the coolest things people have found while magnet fishing — An iPhone Yupp, an iPhone was found while magnet fishing off a boat dock. The phone was obviously unusable due to the water damage–but it was still a neat and modern-day find! 1976 Pepsi Can In Indiana, an old Pepsi Cola can was found with the label still relatively intact. The date was discovered by looking at the “Have a Pepsi Day!” promotion on the label. This was a slogan that ran in the 1970s. What a cool find for collectors! Diamond Bracelet While magnet fishing in the Thames River in England, a man found an antique diamond bracelet!  Bicycles If your magnet is strong enough, you may be able to pull up some pretty large items, like a bicycle. Some lucky magnet fishers have not only found but also restored the bikes they found.  Apex Magnets If you’re looking to try magnet fishing for yourself, we encourage you to be careful — make sure you wear gloves when handling items you find.
