Emojis are fun little icons that help convey emotions during conversations online and through text messages. In magnet form, they can help your kids spice things up during the post-holiday season stretch of the school year. Just follow the steps below and bring your favorite emojis to life. Once complete, your students can place them on their lockers to help brighten up some of these dark winter days. 

Supplies

Your magnets can be purchased right here at Apex Magnets through our online store. For your convenience, all magnets necessary for this project will be linked in the full supply list below. Gather these supplies: 

 

  • Paintbrush
  • Yellow paint
  • Circular wood cutouts 
  • Craft felt (Colors may vary but we recommend having at least black, red, and blue)
  • Disc magnets (1” x 1/16”) 
  • Hot glue gun
  • Scissors 

Steps

Before beginning this fun project, be sure to make your children aware of the dangers of using a hot glue gun. If your kids are middle or high school age, they can use this device on their own if there is adult supervision. 

 

Follow these steps:

 

  • Paint one side of your wood cutouts yellow. You may need to do two coats to get a dark enough shade. 
  • As your paint dries, begin cutting out mouths, eyes, hearts, etc. to put on your emoji’s face.
  • Now, place a small amount of glue on all of the pieces of felt you cut out before pressing them down on the wooden circles and making your emoji faces! Allow the facial features to dry.
  • Flip over your circles and glue a disc on the back of each one. 
  • After the glue has dried, you can place these fun crafts on your locker and feel some positive energy throughout your school day!
