DIY Firework Jars
Children and adults alike anticipate the beautiful fireworks displays that will soon grace the night sky this July 4th! Whether it be a local show or you get to experience the majestic display that cities like New York or Washington D.C. are famous for, this spectacular event only comes once a year – until now! Gather your craft supplies and bring your family together to create your own DIY firework in a jar displays you can enjoy all year round. Get ready to blast off with Apex!
Collect Your Supplies:
- Red, white, and blue pipe cleaners
- Plastic or glass jar or bottle with a lid
- 10mm x 2mm disc magnet
- Plastic or wooden wand (popsicle sticks work well)
- Hot glue gun
- Loose glitter (optional)
- Scissors or wire cutters
- Ruler
Follow these instructions:
- Begin by separating your pipe cleaners by color.
- Measure each pipe cleaner to 1.5 inches each and return to their respective color-coded pile.
- Taking one red, white, and blue pipe cleaner piece, twist the three pieces together to form a star shape similar to a firework.
- Repeat this process until you have your desired amount of “fireworks,” placing them into your jar.
- If desired, pour your loose glitter into the jar and secure the lid tightly.
- Next, create your magnetic wand by placing a small amount of hot glue on your disc magnet and affixing it securely to your plastic or wood wand.
- Finally, place your wand against your jar to attract the pipe cleaners and watch your “fireworks” come to life!
