Gather Your Materials

Visit your local craft store and our easy-to-navigate website for everything you need to make this timely creation! 

 

  • Dominos (you can either purchase them or make your own out of cardstock and a hole punch)
  • Cardstock (any color) 
  • Pen or pencil 
  • 1/2" x 1/16" adhesive disc magnet
  • Clock components (check various retailers like Amazon)
  • Ruler (optional)
  • Hole punch (Optional)

 

What To Do

  1. Begin by cutting out two 6 inch circles from your cardstock. Fold the sides of one circle in on eachother so when you open it, you will have 12 equal pie-shaped triangles (these triangles will help you know where to place your dominos)
  2. Place a small pen or pencil marking at each fold mark to create a template for your clock face
  3. Separate your dominos into categories that signify the numbers of the clock face, 1-12 (For example: you may combine a domino with two dots with a domino with four dots to make six o’clock) Get creative with your kids and task them with this job to make math fun!
  4. Attach a 1/2" x 1/16" adhesive-backed magnet to each domino 
  5. Take your second 6 inch circle and press a hole in the center then place it over the clock components to make your clock more visually appealing. Note that the cardstock is for visual purposes only (optional step)
  6. Secure your 1/2" x 1/16" magnet to the back of your clock component 
  7. Place a battery in your clock (if not already done) 
  8. Arrange your clock component and dominos on any magnetic surface in the appropriate layout, using your template created in step 1 (we recommend placing your clock on your fridge)
  9. Consider making extra magnetic domino pieces to swap out the numbers on the clock face with different numeric variation combinations
  10. Enjoy your new clock!
