Over the past few weeks, we have given you instructions on how you can create magnets of a scarecrow and Frankenstein’s monster. Now, we will add a pumpkin to our fun list of fall decorations. Pumpkins are synonymous with autumn and this craft can help add some seasonal flair to your home. This particular craft is also family-friendly, meaning your kids can help out as long as there is adult supervision. 

Supplies

Gather these supplies:

 

  • Orange and black paint
  • 10 popsicle sticks 
  • Cardstock
  • Tacky glue
  • Adhesive magnets (½” x 1/16”)
  • Green pipe cleaner 
  • Scissors 
  • Paintbrush

Steps

This project is super simple and can be a great way to get the whole family together to celebrate the fall season. Additionally, this could be a really fun art project for your classroom. 

 

Just follow these steps: 

 

  • Lay out 10 popsicle sticks vertically. 
  • Cut out a piece of cardstock that is a little smaller than your sticks so that it remains covered. 
  • Glue the back of your sticks and press them against the cardstock. Let it dry.
  • Grab your orange paint and paint the front of your popsicle sticks.
  • Once dry, use your black paint to add eyes, a nose, and a mouth. You can either make your own design or use a reference image.
  • Grab your pipe cleaner and wrap it around your finger to make it look like a pumpkin stem. 
  • Flip over your pumpkin and glue the pipe cleaner to the back of your pumpkin towards the top. 
  • After it has dried, stick two magnets to the back, placing one on each side.
  • Once dry, hang up your design so it can be enjoyed by everyone!
