While there has not been too much snow this winter…yet, you can turn your home into a winter wonderland by creating your own popsicle stick snowflake magnets. This project is a great way for the whole family to have fun and see how creative they can be. Once you finish your design, just take it apart and create a brand new one until you have a finished product that you are proud to show off to all your holiday visitors! Supplies

This supply list is short and budget-friendly, meaning anyone can give this unique project a try. Be sure you have a large magnetic surface available as well, including a whiteboard or fridge. Here are the supplies you will need:

  • 100-pack of popsicle sticks
  • Blue, light blue, and silver paint
  • Silver/white glitter
  • Disc magnets (½”x1/16”)
  • Mod Podge
  • Paintbrush 
  • Scissors

Steps

Creating these magnets is a breeze! While the whole family can participate, we recommend adult supervision due to the use of scissors and small magnets.

 

Follow these steps to create your stylish snowflake magnets:

  • Gather all materials.
  • Cut some of your popsicle sticks with scissors in half to add more variety to your snowflakes once it is time to build them. Each stick/half stick will be on its own and you can arrange them to make the entire snowflake by moving each individual piece around on your surface.
  • Paint one side of all of the popsicle sticks you are using. Make sure you have an equal amount, or close to an equal amount, of each color.
  • Add some glitter to bring a shiny finish to your popsicle sticks. Mod Podge will help it stay in place.
  • Once dry, glue a magnet on the other side of all of your popsicle sticks. 
  • After that has dried, grab your finished popsicle sticks and arrange them to look like snowflakes. See how many fun designs you can make! As they say, no two snowflakes look the same!
