A Colorado startup company called Hustle Bike Labs has embarked on a new project to create REM magnetic bicycle pedals. Why? A magnetic pedal can replace traditional clipless pedals to provide easier foot engagement and freedom of movement while still maintaining the same level of safety of typical platforms. We’ve used our latest blog to detail the exciting news for you!    The Formula  A pair of powerful neodymium magnets would be embedded in the middle of the pedal and surrounded by thread-in pins inside a steel plate. The magnets are mounted in a blog that can pivot with the axle of the bike, which allows for a natural feeling on the rider’s foot, and comfortable shoe adjustment. Production units will be made with aluminum and filled with roller bearings.  The Magnets The REM model uses stronger magnets than past products like the he Magped (45lbs) and the MagLOCK (35lbs). With 65lbs of pull force per pedal, it mirrors the feeling of a traditional clipless pedal with increased freedom of movement as you ride. On the surface of the platform, your feet can slide much more easily.  Timeline The REM pedal is still in the early design phases, but plans are in the works to have the product ready by April 2020. The invention would revolutionize the sport of cycling for everyone from professional cyclists to casual bike riders.  Discover More With Apex Magnets Today We are constantly on the lookout for new magnet discoveries.
