DIY Scarecrow Magnet
It is hard to believe, but summer is almost officially over. If you want to have some fall decor ready once the seasons change, our latest project is for you! This DIY magnetic scarecrow will be a favorite amongst visitors for fall cookouts, football watch parties, and more. Let’s look at how you add this festive creation to your home.
Supplies
This inexpensive project requires some supplies that you likely have in your home. Everything else can be found in the crafting aisle of your favorite store. For your magnet needs, just visit our online store and enjoy same-day shipping if you place your order by 3 PM EST.
You will need these supplies:
- Glue
- Eight popsicle sticks
- Colored construction paper (yellow, orange, and white)
- Disc magnets (½” x ⅛”)
- Scissors
- Brown paint
- Paintbrush
- Brown/black marker
- Thin cardboard (a piece of a cereal box would work!)
Steps
This project is really simple and you can even let your kids make their own scarecrow! As always, adult supervision is recommended to ensure their safety.
Follow these steps:
- Line up seven of your popsicle sticks vertically.
- Cut out a piece of cardboard that matches the size of the seven popsicle sticks.
- Drizzle glue on one side of your cardboard and press down your seven sticks.
- Once dry, take your last popsicle stick and place it diagonally across the top third of your vertical popsicle sticks.
- Paint the horizontal stick and the top portions of your other sticks brown to resemble a hat.
- While your paint dries, cut out six yellow rectangles that measure an inch or two long for the hair, an orange triangle for the nose, and two white circles for the eyes.
- Glue on the remaining parts you just cut out. Finish the eyes by drawing a black dot on each circle.
- Draw a smile on your popsicle sticks to represent the mouth.
- Flip over your design and glue your disc magnet to the back.
- Once dry, place it on your fridge or another surface and enjoy!
