Magnetic Gloves for Mechanics
Calling all mechanics — Have you ever found yourself in a situation where you’ve dropped something like a bolt or a socket into a car’s engine as you’re working on it? Chances are, you have. It’s an easy mistake to make. The next question is, how do you retrieve it? Well, we have an answer for you, and it’s so simple, you’ll be surprised you haven’t tried it yet.
Supplies
Here is the short list of supplies you’ll need to use this magnetic hack for mechanics:- Latex gloves
- Neodymium disc magnets (preferred size may vary, but we recommend something like the ¼” x ⅛” disc magnet)
- Note: You can always stack several magnets for extra strength.

Now that you have your supplies, it only takes a few simple steps to retrieve whatever metal item has fallen into the engine. Follow these steps:- Drop your neodymium disc magnet into the glove; settle it into the end of the finger.
- Note: The pointer finger is probably your best bet
- Put on the latex glove; arrange the magnet so it settles on the end of your finger.
