Spring is nearly in the air, meaning it's time to freshen up your home with some nature-inspired decor. What better way to celebrate the start of the new season than with flowers? Bringing in blossoms can really brighten up any room and get you excited for the warmer weather ahead. There's no reason that you have to stick with the traditional table vase to display your blooms, either. You can create some beautiful decorations by constructing vases with strong magnets that allow you to place your flowers in interesting places, like your fridge or your filing cabinet. The best part? They're super simple and fun to construct - in fact, this could be the perfect craft for a lazy spring afternoon. Not to mention, these vases also make a great gift for friends, family and coworkers.

Instructions

  1. Birds & Blooms recommended buying miniature bottles from a local craft store, but you also might have some lying around. It's important that the bottles have an opening and a neck that's wide enough to fit your flower stems. If you want to add some color to a clear vase, you can use stained glass paints. Try adding some stunning designs or imagery. Puffy paint can add some extra visual intrigue because it has a 3-D textural element.
  2. If you have the time, you can also make your own vases - which gives you more creative control. Oh So Pretty suggested purchasing air hardening clay and molding it into mini-vases in whatever shape or size you desire. After letting the clay harden overnight, you can paint words, patterns or images on to the vases or add other fun accents.
  3. Whichever method you choose, you'll need to use a fast-bonding instant adhesive to attach a small, but strong, 1'' x 1/8'' disc magnet on to the back of each bottle.
  4. Now comes the fun part: decoration. Birds & Blooms recommended adding stickers, which can be found in the scrapbook section of any craft store. However, to ensure that the stickers stay put, you'll want to apply rubbing alcohol to the outside of the bottles to clean them of any dust or residue. The source also noted that you can add small metal shapes for an interesting touch, or tie tiny charms around the necks with fishing line.
  5. Finally, fill your miniature vases with any blossoms you prefer. There's no reason you have to put flowers inside them, either - nuts, tiny branches and other natural elements can look just as striking.
