In a recent blog post, we shared three magnetic hacks to upgrade your cabin, such as using hook magnets to hang items or clip magnets to organize your stateroom. Similar to these hacks, there are many cruise ship hacks on an industrial level.  Because magnets can have a strong pull force, are weather-resistant and durable, and maintain their properties both indoors and outdoors, they are ideal to use on cruise ships. This is largely because many walls and surfaces are magnetic.

Cruise Ship Magnets

  1. Mooring Magnets

Many cruise lines use neodymium magnets to moor passenger excursion boats against the vessel. By doing so, they can deploy boats safely, quickly, and efficiently and also safely return them. Note: Because saltwater can lead to corrosive damage, you can use custom epoxy-coated neodymium magnets to combat this program.  There are magnetic mooring points that allow excursion boats to detach and reattach until they can disembark passengers. The whole process is faster and more efficient by eliminating the need to pass mooring lines back and forth between ship and excursion crew. Even more importantly, magnets make this process safer.
  1. Hook Magnets

Instead of drilling holes into the walls, which can take time and be costly, you can use hook magnets, such as 25-pound hook magnets, in staterooms for towel hooks, hang shower curtains, create curtain dividers, and more! The best part is that magnets add flexibility to move items around without dealing with the hassle of drilling.  Also, for construction or window washing, where employees are required to haul themselves up the side of the ship, you can use carabiner hook magnets to make the process safer and easier. While the one attached directly to the construction worker will likely be a non-magnetic carabiner, you could use a magnetic carabiner hook to haul the platform and lower it back down safely. Note: Use a carabiner hook magnet with a strong pull force, which means custom magnets could be the best choice. Or, if you need carabiner hook magnets with a small pull force, try a 30-pound carabiner hook magnet
  1. Magnets For Maintenance Tools

When performing maintenance on the cruise ship, you can use a magnetic tool holder to keep tools secure, organized, and in one place. If you need to store smaller tools, you can use 2’’ x 1’’ x ½’’ block magnets and create a DIY magnetic tool holder If you need tools (or even other magnetic items), you can use custom block magnets with a stronger pull forcer. Note: these magnets can be extremely powerful and dangerous, so you must use safety precautions when unpacking and using them.

Take Apex Magnets On Board

As you can see, strong neodymium magnets have many applications on cruise ships. They are great for adding safety for mooring, keeping items secure when waters get rough, and adding flexibility in staterooms.
