What They Found Left Them In Hot Water Magnet fishing is becoming increasingly popular due to its exposure on platforms such as TikTok, YouTube, and Instagram. If you are unfamiliar with the term, it is as literal as it sounds. People hook up a magnet to a rope and cast it into the water to see what they can discover. While the activity is seemingly harmless, there are some extreme instances where fishers find weapons or other suspicious objects. That is exactly what happened in Georgia along the Fort Stewart river. One group of magnet fishers managed to pull up 86 rockets, ammunition belts, and a tank tracer round. After making the discovery, they immediately contacted the bomb squad to investigate their findings, but the situation quickly turned into something much more serious. The federal game warden was called to the scene by a Fort Stewart Military Police officer. He later told the group that magnet fishing was not allowed in the area because of incidents like this.  The men explained that they had contacted the Department of Natural Resources before they started fishing, and were told they could fish anywhere that was considered a ‘green zone.’ According to them, there we no signs prohibiting magnet fishing in that particular area. Unfortunately for the group, the warden said it didn’t matter since the men were on Fort Stewart property. He proceeded to hand out a number of tickets and told the group they could talk to a judge.
