Showing your mother that you love her doesn't have to come with an expensive price tag. Some of the most heartfelt gifts are the ones we make ourselves. This is why we think this year do it yourself gifts are a great way to show mom you appreciate all the hard work she’s done. If you still haven’t picked a gift for your mom, here are a few creative DIY gift ideas.

Bottle Cap Photo Magnets

Choose some favorite pictures of your mom and you and create some cute bottle cap fridge magnets. Make the gift even more sentimental by choosing photos throughout the years and creating a magnetic timeline of memories.

Supplies

Steps

  1. Collect your photos and scale them down to the size needed to fit into the bottle caps, about 1 inch or less should be suitable.
  2. Cut the photos into circular shapes that will fit snugly in the bottom of the bottle caps.
  3. Prep the bottle caps by painting over their previous labels. You can also alternatively buy blank bottle caps specifically for crafts, but reused bottle caps are fine too.
  4. Once the bottle caps are dry of paint, place a layer of Mod Podge and press the cut photo inside.
  5. Wait for the layer to dry and layer the photo with the Mod Podge. Do this twice.
  6. Wait for the photo to dry and turn the cap over. Adhere the magnet to the back with glue.

Mini Magnetic Flower Vase

Flowers may be the classic Mother’s Day gift, but you can put a spin on it this year by making your own magnetic vase. These vases are tiny and easy to make. Learn how to make them here.

Magnetic Flower Garden

For the mom that loves gardening, a magnetic garden planter is a fun DIY gift. Simply reuse some old tin cans, fill them with soil and a small plant and attach a magnet to the back for easy hanging. For a full tutorial for a magnetic garden wall check out our blog here.

Magnetic Photo Frame

This magnetic photo frame from PopSugar is made from everyday household items but looks like a high-quality frame! If you still want to incorporate pictures in your gift but don’t want to scale them to bottle capsize, this is the perfect alternative.
